Terms of Service
Last updated
These Terms of Service govern your use of LoonieCalc (looniecalc.ca), operated by MOST AI Labs Inc., a corporation incorporated under the British Columbia Business Corporations Act (SBC 2002, c. 57). By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
1. The service
LoonieCalc is a free, ad-supported, informational financial calculator utility for Canadian users. Each calculator applies a published Canadian rule (a tax bracket, a contribution limit, a stress-test formula, a statutory schedule) to the inputs you supply and reports the result. The site does not collect login credentials, does not offer accounts, and does not store any record of the values you enter into a calculator.
2. No professional advice
The calculators and written content on this site are provided for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute financial, tax, mortgage, investment, legal, accounting, or any other professional advice. They do not create a fiduciary, advisory, broker, or solicitor-client relationship between you and MOST AI Labs Inc. or any operator of the site. Always verify current rules with the relevant Canadian authority and consult a licensed professional before acting on any number you see here. See the full disclaimer for additional context.
3. Permitted use
You may use LoonieCalc:
- For personal, non-commercial reference and planning.
- For internal use within a Canadian household, business, or non-profit, provided no fee is charged for that use.
- To link to LoonieCalc pages from a website or document, with a normal hyperlink (no framing, no scraping).
4. Prohibited uses
You may not, without our prior written permission:
- Operate automated systems (scrapers, crawlers, mirroring tools) against LoonieCalc beyond what is permitted in our robots.txt. Reasonable indexing by major search engines and academic web archives is permitted; bulk extraction of calculator outputs is not.
- Embed, reskin, or republish LoonieCalc calculators (or any output derived from them) as a commercial service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to reconstruct the proprietary internals of any calculator beyond what is publicly documented on the page itself.
- Use LoonieCalc to engage in any conduct that violates Canadian law, including but not limited to tax evasion, mortgage fraud, or unauthorised provision of regulated financial services.
- Attempt to circumvent any access control, rate limit, or security measure employed by the site or by Cloudflare on our behalf.
5. Intellectual property
All content on LoonieCalc, including calculator code, written articles, methodology documentation, the LoonieCalc wordmark, and the visual identity of the site, is owned by or licensed to MOST AI Labs Inc. and is protected under the Copyright Act of Canada (RSC 1985, c. C-42).
Underlying tax brackets, statutory rates, contribution limits, and government formulas are facts of public record and are not owned by us; however, the specific selection, organization, and presentation of those facts on this site, and the calculator implementations themselves, are.
You may quote short excerpts of LoonieCalc written content under fair dealing for the purposes of research, education, news reporting, or criticism, with attribution to LoonieCalc and a link to the source page.
6. Third-party services and links
LoonieCalc may include links to third-party websites (Canadian government agencies, primary-source publications, related calculators) and may integrate third-party services (Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Cloudflare). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party sites and have no control over their practices. Their privacy and terms govern your interactions with them.
7. Accuracy and rule changes
Tax rates, contribution limits, OSFI guidelines, CMHC rules, provincial land transfer schedules, and government benefit amounts change frequently. Each calculator page shows a "Last verified" date and lists its primary sources. We strive to update calculators within seven days of a material rule change, but we do not warrant that the calculators reflect the most-current state of the law at the moment you use them. See our methodology for the update cadence.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
LoonieCalc is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, we disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that the site or the servers that host it are free of viruses or other harmful components. You use the site at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MOST AI Labs Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and contractors are not liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, savings, opportunity, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of LoonieCalc — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to LoonieCalc, in any 12-month period, is limited to the greater of CAD $100 or the amount you paid us during that period (which, for a free site, is zero).
Some Canadian jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MOST AI Labs Inc. from any claim, loss, liability, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party arising out of (a) your use of LoonieCalc in breach of these Terms, (b) your reliance on a calculator output for a decision the calculator did not purport to support, or (c) your violation of applicable law in connection with your use of the site.
11. Modifications and termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any calculator, page, or feature on LoonieCalc at any time, with or without notice. We may also amend these Terms — material changes are versioned by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of LoonieCalc shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of British Columbia sitting in Vancouver, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
