Privacy Policy

Last updated

LoonieCalc (looniecalc.ca) is operated by MOST AI Labs Inc., a private corporation incorporated under the British Columbia Business Corporations Act (SBC 2002, c. 57). This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under Canadian and EU privacy law.

We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) federally, the BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) as our home jurisdiction framework, and apply EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) equivalents to visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.

What we collect, and what we don't

LoonieCalc is a static, read-only calculator site. The pages do not require an account, do not store any record of which calculator inputs you supply, and do not transmit those inputs anywhere. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type into a calculator field reaches our servers.

The only personal information we collect, and only in specific situations:

  • If you email us at hello@looniecalc.ca: we receive your email address and the contents of your message. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the message to a human inbox at the operating company. We use the information only to respond to you and resolve your inquiry.
  • Server logs (always): our hosting provider Cloudflare logs your IP address, the URL you requested, the referring URL, your user-agent string, and a timestamp for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are retained by Cloudflare per the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Analytics (only when active): when our analytics consent banner is operational and you grant consent, Google Analytics 4 collects a pseudonymous client identifier and event records (page views, time on page, referrer). Until that consent surface ships, no analytics tag is injected on any page — see our Cookie Policy for the current state.
  • Advertising (only when active): we plan to participate in the Google AdSense program. When AdSense activates, Google may set cookies and use device identifiers to deliver ads, in line with the Google "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" notice.

We do not sell personal information. We do not maintain marketing lists. We do not run remarketing or look-alike audience targeting outside what Google AdSense itself controls.

How we use the information we collect

  • To respond to messages you send us through the contact form or email.
  • To diagnose technical issues, prevent abuse, and meet our security obligations as a Canadian operator (this is the legitimate-interest basis under PIPEDA s. 5(3) and GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • With your consent, to measure aggregate site traffic and improve the content and structure of the site (when the analytics consent surface is live).
  • With your consent or based on your interactions with Google's services, to fund the site through advertising delivered by Google AdSense (when AdSense is live).

Who we share information with

The narrow set of third parties that may receive information about you:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (San Francisco, USA) — provides hosting via Cloudflare Pages, DNS, CDN, and email forwarding for hello@looniecalc.ca. Cloudflare receives standard server-log data on every request and the contents of any email you send to a looniecalc.ca address (Cloudflare Email Routing forwards it to our operator inbox).
  • Google LLC (Mountain View, USA) — Google Analytics and, separately, Google AdSense, when each is active. See Google Privacy Policy and the partner-sites notice linked above.

We disclose personal information without your consent only when required by Canadian law — for example, in response to a lawful subpoena, court order, or production request from a regulator. We do not voluntarily disclose visitor information to law enforcement.

International transfers

Cloudflare and Google process data on servers located in the United States and other jurisdictions. By using LoonieCalc, you understand that your information may be stored and processed outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of those countries (including, in some cases, lawful access by foreign authorities). PIPEDA permits transborder transfers when the transferring organization uses contractual measures to provide a comparable level of protection — Cloudflare and Google publish standard contractual clauses and Data Processing Addenda that we rely on for this purpose.

Cookies and tracking technologies

LoonieCalc itself does not set first-party cookies for analytics, marketing, or personalisation. Cloudflare may set strictly-necessary security cookies (for example, the __cf_bm bot-management cookie) on every request as part of its hosting service. When Google Analytics or AdSense activates, additional cookies will be set — these and the opt-out paths are documented in the Cookie Policy.

Data retention

  • Contact-form messages and email correspondence: retained in our operator inbox until resolved, then archived for up to 24 months for follow-up reference.
  • Cloudflare server logs: retained per Cloudflare's standard log retention (typically less than 30 days for raw request logs).
  • Google Analytics data (when active): default retention of 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask us, free of charge:

  • What personal information we hold about you.
  • To correct personal information that is inaccurate.
  • To delete personal information we hold (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • For a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
  • To withdraw consent for any processing that depends on consent.

Email hello@looniecalc.ca with the subject line "Privacy request" and identify which of the rights above you are exercising. We respond within 30 days, as required by PIPEDA s. 8(3).

If you are an EU/UK resident, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. If you are a Canadian resident, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children's privacy

LoonieCalc is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy are versioned by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We do not notify visitors of changes by email — there is no mailing list. If you rely on the contents of this policy, re-read it on your next visit to the site.
